Job DetailsJob Responsibilities:
- Select and specify electrical equipment, including motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, transformers, and switchgear.
- Conduct thorough technical evaluations of equipment options, considering performance, cost, quality, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other engineers to understand project objectives and develop electrical system designs that meet technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed equipment specifications, technical data sheets, and purchase requisitions for electrical equipment procurement.
- Review supplier proposals, technical drawings, and documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Participate in equipment factory acceptance tests (FAT) and provide technical support during equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate existing electrical systems and provide recommendations for improvements or replacements.
- Perform electrical calculations, such as load analysis, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and motor starting studies.
- Develop and review electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD or similar software.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends, codes, and regulations related to electrical equipment and design practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- At least 4 years in electrical engineering, with a focus on equipment selection, specification, and project management.
- Strong expertise in MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers, power distribution, and switchgear.
- Proven experience in reviewing supplier proposals, technical drawings, and documentation.
- Proficiency in using electrical engineering software tools for calculations and design (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, AutoCAD).
- Excellent understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, prioritize tasks, and manage timelines effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Ability to travel occasionally to project sites for site evaluations and construction support.
