Essential Functions/Responsibilities

The Sr. Process Engineer - Plants COE will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the Services facilities. This individual will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and sites, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. The role will require balancing process improvement initiatives, escalation issue resolution, and capital project execution in the facilities.

  • Responsible for plant process design, bid book & engineering.
  • Understands regulations and able to work with state authorities to develop permit strategies.
  • Understands basic controls design and theory
  • Ability to work across functional teams and help solve technical challenges impacting plants or customers
  • Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements
  • Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
  • Develop, maintain & improve regeneration methods/procedures and create process routings; Develop and maintain plant process flow documentation;
  • Maintain standard costing models for regeneration methods
  • Project Management: Design/scope, manage and execute plant + equipment capital expenditure projects within budget
  • Able to identify and technically lead cost productivity projects
  • Work with external parties to design and execute projects; Procure necessary equipment via SAP or other project systems
  • Establish/maintain vendor relationships
  • Work with regulatory or governing body to gain approvals/permits to project completion
  • Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
  • Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
  • Support EHS projects in plants
  • Ability to quickly comprehend engineering drawings and specifications; Modify as needed
  • Follow plant instrumentation, controls, and automation; Recommend detailed modifications
  • Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations
  • Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
  • Support the quality function through integration of ISO / QC documentation
  • Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the plants
  • Attend regular cross-functional sessions to track / drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for plant issues
  • Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations
  • Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an engineer in an industrial environment
  • At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing or operations engineering with strong knowledge in plant operations, water/wastewater, plant, ion exchange regeneration and/or membrane separation systems
  • Based in one of the Services US full-service regeneration facilities Norfolk, VA / St. Peters, MO / Baytown, TX / Pico Rivera, CA
  • Ability to travel for work via motor vehicle, air travel, etc.

Desired Characteristics:
  • PE certification
  • PMP certification
  • Ability to revise/produce engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong mechanical / electrical / chemical engineering design ability
  • Prior manufacturing process improvement accomplishments
  • Ability to manage priorities and achieve results
  • Prior exposure to and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Broader supply chain experience, such as rotational program
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong manufacturing process knowledge
  • Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical Engineer training / education
  • Ability to work across geographies and functions for impact
  • Ability to travel 25 - 50% of the time via motor vehicle, air travel, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Lean Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training
