Job Description

A Manufacturing Engineer Level will support both production and engineering with exploration into production difficulties, analysis, and the recommendation of solutions to ensure proper production flow. Based on engineering and program data, the selected candidate will execute activities to define, implement, and support the manufacturing and assembly methods that enable optimal use of the resources required. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with engineering on solving non-standard problems and will trigger the change process. Less supervision is required and the candidate is called upon to plan and coordinate complex projects (costing, schedules, and writing of reports)

The key working relationships of the Manufacturing Engineer Level:

• Report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager

• May lead/guide/mentor entry level Manufacturing Engineers

• Regularly interact and provide insight and influence at all levels from shop floor associates to business leaders in leading and encouraging best shop practices

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Establish and maintain manufacturing sequential orders

• Identify and perform analysis on critical cycle and takt times

• Define and implement optimized line balancing for specific assembly rates

• Establish detailed manpower requirements such as work centers, crew type, shift, etc.

• Analyze production capacity such as manpower and equipment

• Collect, validate, document, and maintain manufacturing data such as workloads, capacity planning, equipment, footprint layouts, etc.

• Analyze and revise production standard times

• Optimize, establish, and organize work centers considering ergonomics and material flow

• Work center Flow Cell Layout & Design

• Proficiency in tooling design to include fixturing/tooling, go/no-go gauges, and poke-yoke devices to improve productivity, safety, and quality

• Identify and participate in Continuous Improvement events

• Familiarity of CNC machining, Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Electrical systems.

• Assist in developing functional test procedures (FTP) and PFMEA

• Machining, Fabrication, and assembly experience and equipment capability knowledge

• Basic Materials (Metallurgical) knowledge

• Welding (GMAW, SMAW, FCAW) process knowledge. Experience with Tack Tables or Jigs and Fixtures.

• Work center Flow Cell Layout & Design

• Understanding in Sub-system or Sub-assembly made in work center

• Capable to interact with other departments and understand total business view

• Drive standardization of processes, production, and product

• Flow line production/process sequencing

• Collaboration and leadership skills for production preparation process (3P)
