Basic Job Functions: The ideal candidate will be a creative, process-minded, effective communicator.
The responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer will include but not limited to:
- Providing technical support for maintenance and operations
- Design and implement innovative solutions to enhance production
- Design and troubleshoot mechanical components and systems
- Perform mechanical analysis on various systems and write mechanical specifications and documentation.
- Manage capital projects
- Seek out and implement process improvement projects across the production site
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a technical field and two years of relevant work experience or five years of relevant engineering experience in lieu of a degree
- Project Management experience including creating budgets, timelines, material and service specifications, and resource coordination
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes
Preferred Qualifications: - PMP certification
- PE Certification
- Experience with machine design using electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Familiarity with Process Automation and Control technologies
- Experience in melting / casting operations, and/or rolling mill operations
