Job Description:

Creates custom application solutions for clients
Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of mechanical equipment and systems
Develops new or improved products, processes, equipment and/or technological methods.

Involved a variety of unique and custom design projects including developing and evaluating plans for major projects
Assesses feasibility of proposed applications, including researching and/or testing ideas
Provides leadership and instruction to less experienced staff members
Regularly meets and corresponds with clients, internal staff and vendors.

  • Works in a team environment to develop new product designs that meet customer requirements.
  • Conceptualizes, documents and designs systems and plans while remaining organized.
  • Coordinates and communicates work flow.
  • Develops test procedures and work instructions for products.
  • Designs test environments including test equipment, test software, and assembly of test stations and equipment.
  • Works with management on quality systems for manufacturing
  • Troubleshoots and resolves production and field problems associated with design.
  • Trains production technicians on proper testing procedures and processes
  • Create and present conceptual, preliminary and/or final design reports to customers

  • Ten (10) years' experience in mechanical product design and development.

  • Experience in all facets of mechanical engineering including Machine Design, Mechanical Engineering failure theory, and mechanical assemblies

  • Experience working with hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and/or bolting tools/solutions

  • Experience in control and test equipment

  • Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process (tools, fabrication, welding, materials, procurement, flow, etc.)
  • Understands fundamentals of GD&T as well as legacy print creation and interpretation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical, non-technical staff, suppliers and customers.
  • Skilled at developing and maintaining cooperative relationships.
  • Computer literate: MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, ability to create engineering programs using excel or other applications to aid design efforts.
  • Competent in 3D CAD software applications
    IE Solidworks (preferred), Creo, Inventor, Solidedge, NX, Onshape etc.
  • Experience with automation hardware and software is desirable.

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree (ABET accredited)
  • EIT certification or PE licensure is ideal but not mandatory

    Other Essential Skills:
  • Able lift and/or move up to 50 lbs

  • May involve some occasional weekend work.
