The Airframes, Structures & Radars, and Materials (ASM) leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. ASM uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

ASM is comprised of individuals with technical expertise in hardware design, integration, and production support. The ASM directorate uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon Core principles.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

The ADGE department is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineer II, located in Tewksbury, MA

This is a Hybrid role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.

  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges.

  • Factory and supplier support of product integration domestically and internationally

  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs.

  • Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation

  • Resolution of change requests from manufacturing or suppliers

  • Holding design reviews and resolving action items

  • Development of rework and/or modification procedures

  • Support the production floor on a regular basis, collecting issues, providing status and participate in problem resolution.

  • Utilize CREO CAD tool for modeling and documentation creation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field

  • 5 years engineering design experience with a focus on hardware development

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools or CREO.

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to work across disciplines.

  • Experience in technical risk management.

  • Experience with cable and harness design.

  • Experience with CREO Cabling

  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices

  • Ability to resolve technical issues resulting from manufacturing or supplier inquiries.

  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

  • Hybrid : Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

  • Remote : Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Clearance Information: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
