Where You Will Work   

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. Employees working on a flexible schedule collaborate online and in-person at our Collaboration Hub at the Cotton Center in Phoenix. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Description

Under direct supervision, the Operational Excellence (OE) Specialist participates in and supports corporate and site business optimization initiatives with substantial guidance and oversight. The OE Specialist embraces change while acting as a supporter of and encourages & standardizes working with Agile principles, Lean, Operational Excellence elements, or other data-focused methodologies or other optimization strategies in the organization and fosters the Freeport Edge way of working.

  • Assist Operational Excellence Facilitators, Coaches and leaders to help build and support high performing agile teams with implementing operational excellence elements through business optimization solutions.
  • Assist business optimization teams and/or projects/initiatives with virtual and in-person collaboration tools/techniques, gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, transparently tracking initiative progress and backlog and developing and communicating recommendations aligned with the Operational Excellence elements (Management Systems, Technical System and People, Mindsets and Behaviors) to ensure a sustainable product.
  • Develop and apply new problem-solving techniques including bottleneck analysis, root cause analysis, Lean management, design thinking concepts, line balance, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), specific detailed diagnostic analyses, etc.
  • Other duties, tasks and assignments as required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED AND five (5) years of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings, OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree AND one (1) year of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings, OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field AND three (3) months of experience in Operations, Operations Support, Engineering, Project Management, Professional Business settings including Internships
  • Passionate problem solver who demonstrates a willing attitude in any situation – ambiguous or well-defined; advocates for the best possible solution
  • Good communicator with emerging ability to communicate complex messages
  • Unbiased facilitator; emerging leadership skills
  • Self-aware of cognitive biases and its impact on decision making. Decision making focused on the primary aim to build high performing teams, develop team members and deliver outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The following are potential preferred qualifications that may be used depending on the needs of the team at the time of the posting:
    • Background in specific field (mine, mill, hydro, etc.)
    • Engineering background
    • Data Analysis Skills
    • Experience with OEE (data access, cleaning, interpretation, analysis, etc.)
    • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
    • Able to execute hypothesis-based analysis to confirm/disprove hypothesis
    • Strong Excel skills
    • Can formulate questions to gain customer/process insight
    • Experience standing up Management Systems (work standards, process confirmations, meeting standardization, lineouts and visual management efforts, etc.)
    • People and Culture experience (human resources, organizational health, industrial psychology, etc.)
    • Digital product lifecycle experience (e.g. Business Analysis, Discovery, UX design, Development, Testing, Implementation or Support)

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $72,000-$98,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process. What We Require
