Point of Care Ultrasound continues to be the hotbed of innovation within medical imaging. No other modality can compete with the low cost, no radiation and with the introduction of AI there's now a low training burden too to ensure that non-experts can also use the technology.

My client has raised over $30m to date and is laser focused on New Product Development within their key target markets of MSK Imaging, Anaesthesia and Emergency Medicine. Crucially, with their existing product portfolio they're doubling their growth YoY and as such provide a unique opportunity for someone to join a stable, revenue-generating company who are simultaneously looking to innovate and grow.

As their NPD plans take shape I'm looking for a hands-on Principal Mechanical Engineer who will shape the next generation of Ultrasound products. Whilst you will be the figurehead of a team of three, your time will be dedicated to product development rather than team management. Your expertise will be needed for multiple projects at stages ranging from concept to production. You will lead the architecture, design, development, and validation of mechanical systems for ultrasound-based medical devices and single-use consumables.

You:

• Have at least 10 years experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally in Medical Devices but candidates outside of MedTech will be considered
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Onshape preferred) and proficiency in relevant mechanical engineering design tools and methodologies including GD&T, tolerance analysis, FEA, etc.
• Expertise in designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) and specifying/scaling up manufacturing processes for low-, mid-, and high-volume production.
• Experience with development of mechanical systems from cradle-to-grave
• Based in, or prepared to move (with relocation assistance provided) to Charlottesville, Virginia.
