Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment used on Intrepid boats. The ideal candidate will have experience in marine electrical engineering, a strong understanding of 12-24VDC and 110/220VAC electrical systems, and the ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Design & Development:

  • Design, develop, and test electrical systems and equipment used on boats, including power generation systems, lighting, control systems, and safety equipment.
  • Design & implement electrical drawings and schematics for systems and harnesses.
  • Develop electrical/wiring runs for each boat model & work with MEP teams to ensure they are optimized for manufacturing and followed accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the design engineering team to ensure a cohesive integration of electrical systems into overall designs.

Installation & Commissioning:

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of all new electrical systems on boats.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support for the ongoing maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, perform diagnostics, and implement corrective actions.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all electrical systems and installations meet relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements (ISO, ABYC, NMMA).
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including schematics, technical reports, and maintenance logs, for compliance and audit purposes.

Project Management:

  • Manage electrical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other departments, contractors, vendors and clients to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies and innovations in marine electrical systems.
  • Recommend improvements to systems and processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
