Staff Electrical Engineer


You will lead the design of hardware that runs our robotic device. You will work closely with embedded and mechanical engineers to specify and design solutions to complex real- world problems. As a staff contributor, you will have a large impact on the architecture and direction of our electrical systems. Previous medical devices or other regulated industries are required.


Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Responsibilities


  • Designs electronic hardware for complex robotic systems.
  • Works closely with Mechanical team to layout the physical PCBA.
  • Works closely with Embedded team to support processing and sensing needs.
  • Manages component selection, schematic capture, and board layout in Altium.
  • Manages the development of assembly test equipment.
  • Performs board reliability assessment and failure diagnostics.
  • Testing and documentation for robotic hardware.
  • Provides guidance to product and technology teams.
  • Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions.
  • Sets project technical strategic direction.
  • Acts as mentor to junior engineers.
  • Leads engineering teams to the successful completion of project goals.


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of electronics design experience.
  • BS in electrical engineering, MS preferred.
  • Experience with the design of Electrical Medical Equipment.
  • Proficiency with Altium and product lifecycle tools.
  • Experience in flex circuits, PCB technologies and board layout.
  • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, USB, MIPI, Ethernet, etc).
  • Experience with the design of inductive sensing.
  • Experience with high-speed sampling and routing, switching power supplies, BLDC electric motors, MOSFET driving and A/D.
  • Experience in design for test and design for manufacturability.
  • EMC / EMI / ESD circuit improvement / hardening.
