Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-driven Staff Electrical Engineer to join our commercial infrastructure team. This role focuses on the design and delivery of electrical systems for complex commercial projects such as office buildings, retail centers, airports, healthcare facilities, data centers, institutional buildings, and other large-scale infrastructure.

As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in projects from concept through construction, ensuring solutions align with client requirements, industry codes, and sustainability goals. You'll play a key role in shaping the electrical backbone of critical commercial environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design low and medium-voltage electrical systems for commercial infrastructure, including lighting, power distribution, emergency power, fire alarm, and communications systems.
  • Produce and review construction drawings, schematics, and specifications for commercial facilities such as hospitals, airports, mixed-use developments, and large office buildings.
  • Integrate client standards, building codes (e.g., NEC, IBC), energy efficiency practices, and best-in-class safety design principles.
  • Conduct electrical load calculations, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and coordinate with utilities for service planning.
  • Participate in site visits, surveys, and inspections to assess existing conditions and gather design data.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical analysis software to model and refine system layouts and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure seamless coordination of MEP systems.
  • Prepare documentation for permitting, bidding, and construction phases, including drawing sets and specifications.
  • Assist in cost estimation, value engineering, and the development of project schedules and deliverables.
  • Stay current on industry trends, materials, and technologies relevant to commercial electrical systems.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal QA/QC policies, safety protocols, and applicable codes.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with a minimum of 3 years of relevant design experience in commercial or institutional infrastructure
  • OR
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of experience (commercial building projects preferred)


Licensure:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • OR
  • Ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire


Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical system modeling tools (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
  • Familiarity with lighting and energy analysis tools like AGi32 or Visual
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting


Core Competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, especially in fast-paced project environments
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), ASHRAE, and local building codes
