SUMMARY OF THE JOB:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work on a small electrical team to develop diagrams, schematics, and documentation associated with the electrical design of the system. Specifically, they will be responsible for the electrical design of specific modules within the IVL console helping to ramp production and contribute to new designs. Applicant should be familiar with analysis and troubleshooting of common digital interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and ethernet along with troubleshooting analog signal paths and stepper motors. Familiarity is required with medical electrical standards such as IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2 and should be able to work in a cross-functional team environment. Application should be able to clearly explain technical concepts to individuals with a non-technical background. Although they will be responsible for specific modules they will contribute reviews, suggestions, and ideas to other team member's areas of responsibility. Applicant will work with individuals in software, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, quality, and regulatory to collaborate on the underlying hardware needs, timelines, and costs.

Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision, and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and Bolt Medical procedures and guidelines, the responsibilities of the position include performing the following activities:

  • Developing, testing and integrating real-time electrical circuits.
  • Developing tools for production testing and data analysis.
  • Diagnosing electrical issues and recommending corrective/preventative plans.
  • Planning, conducting, and documenting tests in written reports.
  • Participation in development project core teams and reviews.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.


Qualification:

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.


Required Experience:

  • Must have four (4) plus years of hands-on experience in Embedded Hardware design including technology or product development responsibility.
  • Must have hands on experience testing hardware performance with embedded software/firmware, utilizing JTAG interface, logic analyzers, Oscilloscopes or similar equipment.
  • Must have experience in design transfer to production and communication to non-technical or unfamiliar individuals.
  • Must have experience in creating/maintaining schematics and layout.
  • Must have working knowledge of analog circuit design for signal measurement.
  • Experience with laser and optics an advantage.
  • Ability to write firmware in C/C++ is an advantage.
  • Experience in the medical device or other regulated environment (e.x. aerospace) industries is an advantage

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience with Altium Designer is required.
  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Must be able to express complicated technological ideas to non-technical groups.
  • Must have strong analytical reasoning with modeling and statistical approach to analysis.
  • Self-driven individual who is capable and excited to learn about new technologies.
