Job Description:

We are seeking a hands-on leader with deep expertise in low-noise analog and digital electronics, RF signal processing, embedded systems, and SWaP-optimized design for quantum devices, photonics, and radio electronics. This role requires full-cycle development of precision electronics for quantum sensing, photonic systems, atomic spectroscopy, and RF applications. Candidates with experience leading teams and driving high-tech development will be strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

-Lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of low-noise electronics for quantum devices, photonics, RF electronics, and atomic spectroscopy.

-Develop high-performance photodiode drivers, transimpedance amplifiers, low-noise servo electronics, and high-stability RF electronics for optical and atomic systems.

-Design and integrate compact, SWaP-optimized embedded systems (FPGA, DSP, microcontrollers) for real-time signal processing and quantum device control.

-Implement RF signal processing electronics, Software Defined Radio (SDR), and advanced communication systems for quantum and photonic applications.

-Develop and optimize Phase-Locked Loops (PLL), Pound-Drever-Hall (PDH) locking electronics, PID controllers, and feedback control systems for precision laser frequency stabilization.

-Design and develop thermo-electric control electronics for precision temperature stabilization of quantum and photonic devices.

-Write and optimize firmware/software (C, Python, VHDL/Verilog) for embedded system control, automation, and real-time processing.

-Perform high-precision RF and electronic testing, utilizing oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, lock-in amplifiers, and network analyzers.

-Provide technical leadership and mentorship, ensuring best practices in high-performance electronics design and system integration.

-Collaborate cross-functionally with physicists, engineers, and product teams to define technical requirements and ensure seamless system integration.

-Manage projects and development efforts, coordinating with internal teams and external partners to meet performance and timeline objectives.

-Maintain detailed design documentation, test reports, and performance analyses to support product development and optimization.

Qualifications:

-M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.

-Proven leadership experience in high-tech product development, leading R&D teams, or managing complex engineering projects.

-Hands-on expertise in developing compact, low-noise electronics and embedded systems from concept to production for quantum, photonic, and RF devices.

-Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including precision low-noise amplifiers, photodetector electronics, and high-speed signal processing.

-Experience developing RF electronics, radio receivers, RF signal processing, and Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.

-Strong background in servo control electronics, PID controllers, and microwave electronics for quantum applications.

-Proficiency in PCB design, simulation tools (SPICE, ADS, HFSS), and EDA software (Altium, KiCad, or equivalent).

-Strong background in firmware/software development (C, Python, VHDL, Verilog) for real-time embedded control systems.

-Experience with high-precision RF and electronic testing and measurement for low-phase-noise and ultra-stable systems.

-Ability to troubleshoot and optimize compact, high-performance electronics for SWaP-constrained quantum, photonic, and RF applications.

-Experience developing thermo-electric control electronics for precision temperature stabilization.

-Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary R&D environment.

-U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required due to export control regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Strong track records of leading state of the art R&D in quantum technologies, photonics, RF electronics, or high-tech hardware product development.

-Expertise in atomic spectroscopy, laser frequency stabilization, optical clocks, Rydberg quantum technologies, Rydberg sensors and receivers.

-Background in low-phase-noise synthesizers, frequency comb electronics, and advanced RF signal processing techniques.
