Job Title: Mechanical Engineer I
Location: On-site in Michigan
Contract Duration: 12+ months
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to provide engineering and project support for capital projects. This role primarily focuses on ensuring proper measurement design and mechanical design within capital project execution. The ideal candidate will have expertise in measurement equipment and a strong ability to collaborate across multiple internal departments to achieve project success.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer, your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Project Scoping, Design Engineering, and Review/Support (50%)
- Scope and design capital projects related to measurement and mechanical design.
- Provide engineering support for design reviews and ensure alignment with project goals and specifications.
- Equipment/Material Procurement and Construction Coordination/Support (30%)
- Oversee equipment/material procurement, ensuring project timelines and budgets are met.
- Provide coordination and support during the construction phase.
- Equipment Specification and Development of Department Standards (10%)
- Develop and maintain equipment specifications for measurement tools and systems.
- Contribute to the development of departmental standards for measurement equipment.
- Field/O&M Technical Support (10%)
- Provide technical support to the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams in the field, assisting with installation, diagnostics, configuration, and troubleshooting of measurement equipment.
Technical Expertise Required:
- Expertise in measurement equipment, including:
- Ultrasonic meters
- Coriolis meters
- Orifice meters
- Gas Chromatographs
- Fuel meters
- H2O, H2S, O2, CO2, Hydrocarbon Dew Point Analyzers
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and configure measurement equipment related to capital projects.
Skills & Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical writing experience, particularly in creating engineering specifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team, ensuring alignment with various stakeholders.
- Proven project engineering experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address gaps in processes and projects.
- Working knowledge of the energy industry and natural gas chromatography and metering equipment.
- Experience with gas measurement equipment and electronic flow measurement.
Additional Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with Michigan Gas Safety Code.
- Master's degree or advanced qualification in a technical or scientific field.
- Knowledge of industry codes such as AGA, API, PHMSA, and gas measurement codes.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Proficiency in computer software and programs: Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Arriba, and Measurement software.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
