Summary:

This position leads the day-to-day execution of the Louisville mechanical maintenance program by balancing the needs and priorities of production with available manpower and skillsets.


Key Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA) and safe work practices (EH&S) used in the chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of modern chemical plant maintenance practices utilized in both batch and continuous production environments.
  • Ability to manage small to medium sized capital projects and arrange for cross-functional work.
  • Knowledge of building and facility maintenance practices; awareness and familiarity with local building codes, standards, and communication links.
  • Ability to advance multiple projects at one time.
  • Team-oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills; morale builder.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that all maintenance activities are completed safely, meeting regulatory and industrial standards.
  • Leads the mechanical maintenance activities for the Louisville, KY site.
  • Responsible for maintaining site buildings and facilities.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance (PM) programs for plant equipment.
  • Make recommendations for cost improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and control critical spare strategy
  • Monitor, record, and control costs for mechanical maintenance
  • Develop and achieve departmental budgets.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance recordkeeping including CMM systems, departmental costs, overtime, and call out expenses.
  • Support site capital program as team member (large projects) or lead (small projects).
  • Manage contractors and suppliers (oftentimes through others) required to support production and overall facility maintenance.
  • Make recommendations on staffing and training of maintenance employees.
  • Ensure the mechanical integrity of equipment designed to meet compliance requirements.
  • Maintain the policies and procedures required to maintain, strengthen, and support ISO and PSM.
  • Provide training for maintenance personnel and manufacturing personnel as necessary.
  • Develop and achieve maintenance KPI's (measure and improve reliability of manufacturing equipment).
  • Provide leadership for establishing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years maintenance experience within a chemical or industrial environment.
  • Experience with plant maintenance management systems
  • Experience with automation programs/installations are a plus.
  • Employee will be required to perform the following tasks frequently: overhead reaching, bending, squatting, stair climbing, ladder climbing, crawling, kneeling, and, stooping


Specific Authorities

  • Set day-to-day priorities and assignments for mechanical maintenance.
  • For mechanical maintenance, determine how equipment should be repaired or replaced when routine maintenance is not sufficient.
  • Further develop, implement and track the Preventative Maintenance strategy and system
  • Identify and maintain relationships with acceptable contractors when outside mechanical maintenance assistance is required.
