A power distribution company based out of the Buffalo Grove, IL area of Chicago is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support their product development and testing operations. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering, a strong understanding of LV/MV switchgear and power distribution components, and OEM kit development experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support, testing, and evaluation for the development of LV/MV switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and OEM kits
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for LV/MV electrical components and switchgear
- Analyze bid documents, RFQs, and project specifications to assist in generating optimized, cost-effective project proposals
- Support OEM kit development, ensuring compatibility with switchgear, switchboard, panelboard, and transformer applications
- Assist with type testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and field testing for LV/MV electrical equipment
- Communicate with external parties to verify technical specifications and ensure high quality material selection for manufacturing
- Assist with development of technical documentation, training materials, and manuals for internal and external teams
- Occasional travel to customer sites to meet customers and provide technical product support
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E) or related technical field
- 2 - 4 years of experience with LV/MV power distribution equipment, transformers, and OEM kit development, as well as associated compliance standards (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, NEC)
- Ability to travel occasionally (up to 20%) to customer sites, nationally and internationally
- Strong working knowledge of LV/MV protection devices (circuit breakers, overload relays), transformers, and OEM kits
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar software
