Title: Mechanical Engineer - Harness Design

Location: Newark, CA (Onsite Role)

Contract position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with fellow engineers to generate concepts for harness routing and packaging.
  • Transform concepts into finished designs, producing detailed drawings and CAD models.
  • Conduct engineering analyses to ensure components meet durability, manufacturability, and cost requirements.
  • Engage with suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions, procure prototype parts, and organize tooling schedules.
  • Travel to vehicle builds to gather feedback on manufacturing processes; travel to suppliers as needed.
  • Collaborate with validation engineers to establish test plans based on durability and functionality requirements.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in designing brackets, snap-fits, living hinges, and both plastic and metal fasteners.
  • Ability to perform stress, torque, and tolerance analyses through hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Proficient in Dassault 3D Experience for geometric surface and part design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full lifecycle experience in automotive programs.
  • Familiarity with harness routing strategies used by various OEMs.
  • Experience in designing electrical components, such as connectors and terminals.
  • A portfolio showcasing a strong engineering mindset and analytical capabilities.


Pay for this position is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. As a contractor, you may also be eligible for health benefits such as health, dental, and vision as well as access to a 401K plan.
