Our client, a prominent trading firm, is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to spearhead the development of custom PCBs. These boards will be instrumental in optimizing the performance of their trading platforms and facilitating seamless interaction with custom hardware. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with FPGA engineers and have a high level of autonomy in shaping the technical direction of the trading systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Custom PCB Design: Lead the development of custom printed circuit boards (PCBs) from concept to completion. This includes schematic design, layout, and ensuring manufacturability.
- Collaboration: Work closely with FPGA engineers to create PCBs that seamlessly interface with custom hardware, ensuring efficient and reliable data flow.
- Optimization: Apply your expertise in PCB design to maximize system performance, reliability, and efficiency. Identify and implement design improvements to enhance the trading platforms.
- Technical Direction: Play a pivotal role in outlining the technical direction of trading platforms, providing input and expertise to enhance the firm's competitive edge.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and execute testing protocols to ensure the integrity and reliability of custom PCBs in a high-frequency trading environment.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of design specifications, processes, and changes, ensuring clarity and traceability.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that PCB designs meet industry standards for quality, performance, and safety.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in PCB schematic design and layout, with a strong portfolio of successful custom PCB projects.
- Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium, Eagle, KiCad).
- Solid understanding of FPGA integration with PCBs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize designs for high-performance and low-latency applications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with FPGA engineers.
- Self-driven and capable of working autonomously to make technical decisions.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in PCB design.
- Experience in a high-frequency trading or finance-related role is not required but can be an advantage.
