Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Medical Devices

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: 12 Months


Job Overview:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and support the production of innovative medical devices. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and regulatory compliance, along with a passion for improving patient care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Create mechanical designs and prototypes for medical devices, ensuring functionality, safety, and manufacturability.
  • CAD & Simulation: Utilize CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) to model designs and run simulations (FEA, thermal, etc.).
  • Prototyping & Testing: Lead prototyping efforts and conduct tests to validate designs.
  • Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
  • Compliance: Ensure designs meet FDA, ISO 13485, and other relevant standards, maintaining proper documentation.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Experience: 3+ years in mechanical design, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), FEA, and material selection.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FDA regulations and ISO 13485.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with rapid prototyping, manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC), and risk management.
  • Familiarity with DFM and GD&T principles.
