About the Role:
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer I to support the design, development, and testing of aerospace restraint system assemblies and components. In this role, you will work closely with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements for inflatable aviation safety systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design new products and modify existing ones based on engineering, customer, and sales department specifications.
- Act as a technical point of contact for commercial and government customers, nationally and internationally.
- Support preliminary design efforts, including technical descriptions, cost estimates, and project scheduling for proposals.
- Apply commercial and military specifications to hardware and processes.
- Provide hands-on support for component fabrication, prototype testing, and production hardware assembly.
- Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, assembly, quality, and performance issues.
- Assist in identifying and addressing functional, safety, and quality concerns throughout product development.
- Draft engineering documentation, including drawing packages, assembly documents, and engineering change orders.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards.
- Familiarity with sheet metal, injection molded, and machined part design.
- Experience in aerospace hardware packaging design and weight analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work within deadlines and collaborate in a team environment.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Experience with DO-160 standards preferred.
