About the Role
Omniply is looking for a senior mechanical/mechatronics engineer to join the R&D team for designing, prototyping, and qualifying Omniply's delamination equipment, as well as be the liaison with equipment suppliers and commissioning at clients' locations. We are looking for a candidate with a background in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, design, or manufacturing. Experience in the semi-conductor or printing business is an added asset.
Very hands-on person with experience in building mechanical systems from scratch while working on an academic or industry project. A "go-getter" attitude is very important for us.
Responsibilities
- Designing and building Omniply's proprietary manufacturing equipment in the field of OLED displays and printed electronics
- Develop and lead equipment design and assembly for lift-off process using Omniply's technology through prototype, testing, and troubleshooting phases
- Developing operation procedures and software algorithms for the equipment system
- Improve system performance through data collection and analysis
- Investigate and troubleshoot equipment system and process level issues
- Define and implement various calibration procedures for the equipment system
- Manage tool development and part design/sourcing materials
- Manage timelines for R&D projects. Experience with MS Projects an asset.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to junior engineers and technicians
- Coordinate with other engineering teams to manage resources and timeslots
- Manage inventory proactively
Qualifications
- 2-5 year of experience in an electromechanical oriented role
- At least 2-3 years experience with C/C++ and Python
- Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- Proficient in mechanical design in SolidWorks
- Electrical knowledge, designing circuits for interfacing with sensors and actuators
- PCB design experience and PLC knowledge are highly preferred
- Familiarity with Linux / Debian
- Familiarity with stepper motors and driver boards
- Budgeting and financial management skills preferred
- Familiarity with fabrication shops is an asset
- Self starter- should be able to work with minimal supervision (prior start-up environment experience is a large plus)
- Experience communicating with or working with manufacturers
- Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production is desired
- Collaborative in nature and able to function within a multidisciplinary team
Must be in Canada and able to start within a few weeks.
