Full Time, Permanent

On-Site (Monday-Friday) Abbotsford, BC

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Contributing to the design of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for projects across Canada, in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and reference materials.
  • Working independently on assigned scopes of work with minimal supervision.
  • Preparing contract documents such as drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction phases.
  • Creating mechanical designs and drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinating mechanical system designs with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
  • Performing load calculations using internal software tools.
  • Assisting in the development of energy models and contributing to energy modelling reports and compliance documentation.
  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality project outputs through proactive involvement in quality assurance.
  • Following established design standards and specifications while aligning with project-specific requirements.
  • Reviewing shop drawings and contractor submittals for accuracy and alignment with construction documents.
  • Conducting field surveys, site reviews, and preparing as-built drawings.
  • Providing coaching, mentorship, and professional guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams and departments to ensure project tasks are completed on schedule and meet expectations set by the Project Manager, Discipline Lead, or Supervisor.
  • Supporting company objectives for high-quality work and timely project delivery by contributing to the continuous improvement of workflows and design standards.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • P.Eng Certification or an E.I.T with 5+ years of experience working towards a P.Eng.
  • Proven experience in HVAC and plumbing system design.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support junior staff.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, heating, and cooling.
  • Strong knowledge of current local plumbing and building codes, as well as applicable industry standards.
  • Solid foundation in building science principles, including heat transfer, thermodynamics, and airflow.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NECB, ASHRAE standards, and applicable provincial codes.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, electrical, and civil drawings with minimal guidance.
  • Experience producing energy modelling reports using IES Virtual Environment software.
  • Proficient in cooling load calculation tools such as HAP or Trace700.
  • Experience with energy modelling and load calculation tools such as EE4, ComCheck, HAP, HOT2000, eQuest, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, IES, and/or PHPP.
  • Knowledge of LEED certification requirements is considered an asset.
