Job Description:

We promise more than a job, we offer a career you can build.

1 - Who We Are

We're the Canadian entity of ABMI, a French engineering and consulting group with over 35 years of experience delivering high-level expertise in highly regulated industries such as nuclear energy, aerospace, and life sciences.

ABMI is part of House of ABY, which unites 11 subsidiaries, each with unique specialties, but all with one common vision : delivering excellence through deep, focused technical expertise. At ABMI, we don't try to do it all, we choose to specialize, and that's where our strength lies.

Thanks to our long-standing reputation in Europe and our strong presence at major industry events like the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris, our name has crossed borders. It was in fact our clients, some of the biggest players in the nuclear and aerospace sectors, who came to us, expressing a desire to work with us in Canada.

With a shared ambition to bring our consulting expertise overseas, ABMI Canada came to life. This marks the start of something new, and we're building on it every day.

2 - What You'll Do

About the Role

As part of Canada's ongoing nuclear refurbishment programs, this role focuses on the detailed mechanical design of critical systems and components. You'll work within a highly regulated environment where precision, code compliance, and design quality are essential. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex engineering challenges that support the long-term reliability and safety of nuclear operations.

Key responsibilities :

  • Contribute to mechanical design activities for nuclear refurbishment projects across Canada
  • Develop and review mechanical layouts, process flow, and equipment specifications
  • Focus on the design and analysis of piping systems, pipe supports, valves, and other mechanical equipment
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, both remotely and on-site, to ensure design consistency and project alignment
  • Participate in tolerance assessments and conduct quality reviews of mechanical design packages

3 - Why Join Us?

This is more than a project, it's the start of a journey, and you can be part of it from day one.

At ABMI, we combine the strength of an established European group with the proximity and agility of a growing team. Based in Toronto, we're building something meaningful-and you can help us shape it.

By joining us, you'll be part of a consulting company, not a staffing agency. Your expertise matters, your ideas are heard, and your role evolves with you.

You'll benefit from:

  • Real technical experience on large-scale nuclear projects working directly with the client. You'll see the real impact of your work and have the opportunity to take on different roles or projects over time, expanding your expertise while staying supported by ABMI every step of the way.
  • A supportive environment, with a dedicated ABMI manager holds regular check-ins to ensure you have the onboarding, tools, and training to succeed - plus the option for a coffee catch-up if needed (poutine totally approved ).
  • Clear and structured career paths, whether you aim to grow into technical leadership or management
  • Personalized support to develop your skills, expand your knowledge, and reach your goals (training workshops, e-learning platform, mentoring, and and be part of our international technical community, with opportunities to learn from experts across ABMI's global teams.)

This is a springboard role, an opportunity to build your technical career in Canada while being part of something bigger.

4 - Who You Are

Essential

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Proven expertise in:
  • Pipe routing and support design
  • Valves and other mechanical equipment
  • Process flow and mechanical systems
  • Currently hold OPG security clearance
  • Based in Canada and legally authorized to work
  • Solid understanding of engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements in regulated environments

Nice to have

  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility for licensure in a Canadian province
  • Previous experience in nuclear projects
  • Familiarity with equipment contracts in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors (e.g., oil & gas, energy, transportation)
  • Understanding of engineering design processes and project lifecycle
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments

ABMI is an Equal Opportunity Employer: We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, disability, ️ sexual orientation, or background.

5 - Our Culture

At ABMI, culture is a core value, it's the foundation of how we work, grow, and succeed together. Each of our values has real meaning, and we make sure it shows in our day-to-day actions.

Here's what we stand for, and what it truly means:

  • Expertise

We don't pretend to know everything. Instead, we go deep. We specialize, we train continuously, and we always bring in the right people for the right challenges.

  • Agility

It's not about moving fast for the sake of it. It's about adapting to real-world project needs, client expectations, regulatory shifts, or technical hurdles, without ever compromising on quality.

  • Proximity

We stay close to our consultants. That means regular check-ins, on-site visits, one-on-one time, and honest conversations. You're never just a name in a spreadsheet.

6 - Compensation & Benefits

We keep things transparent, with no surprises. Here's what we offer:

Full-time employment ( not freelance/contractor)

Competitive salary based on experience

Private health insurance

15+ days paid vacation (based on seniority)

Hybrid work model (some on-site presence required)

Team events and moments that matter

7 - Recruitment Process

  1. Initial call with Yasmine , Talent Acquisition Specialist
  2. Interview with Emilien , Business Manager at ABMI
  3. Optional : Technical interview with one of our nuclear experts, if necessary for role validation
