Professional Land Surveyor - Survey Discipline Lead

Location: Meridian, Idaho

Position Overview: J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. is seeking to hire a Professional Land Surveyor to work in our successful Meridian, Idaho office. This senior-level position will actively collaborate with other Survey Discipline Leads across our company, enhancing our resource-sharing culture known as the "long hallway." Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Establish and maintain a high-performing, collaborative survey team culture.
  • Mentor, coach, and lead survey staff in the Meridian office and others as opportunities present themselves.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, design teams, and field personnel.

Technical Excellence:

  • Oversee complex survey projects including transportation, water/wastewater, land development, and aviation-related pre-design and topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction staking, subdivision plats, Records of Survey, bathymetric surveys, and more.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy in scope, schedule, budgeting, and project delivery.
  • Utilize advanced technology including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, GNSS workflows, UAV/drone mapping, LiDAR (airborne and terrestrial), and geodetic networks.
  • Prepare and review detailed legal descriptions, easement documents, rights-of-way, and control networks.

Additional Expectations:

  • Maintain moderate billable-hour utilization with eligibility for performance-bonus incentives.
  • Actively participate in proposal preparation, scope and labor estimates, client relationship management, and strategic client development.
  • Occasional regional travel for site visits and client meetings.
Requirements:
  • Licensure: Current Idaho PLS license, or ability to obtain licensure within 3 months.
  • Experience: Minimum 15-20+ years as a licensed land surveyor with demonstrated leadership and multi-office project coordination experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, GNSS; advanced expertise in specialty areas such as LiDAR, UAV mapping, bathymetric surveying, or geodetic networks strongly preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven mentor and effective communicator, capable of presenting confidently to executives, clients, and industry peers.
  • Field Capabilities: Comfortable working in diverse terrain and varying weather conditions, when field work is required.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000 annually, determined by experience.
