A leading energy provider is seeking a dedicated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join its team at a pumped storage hydroelectric facility located in Warm Springs, Virginia. Position Overview
The selected candidate will provide technical and engineering support for plant operations, with responsibilities including:
- Conducting root cause analyses and troubleshooting electrical systems
- Assessing equipment condition (e.g., vibration, oil analysis)
- Developing and reviewing equipment specifications
- Managing breaker monitoring programs
- Reviewing and issuing permits for digging, drilling, or cutting
- Overseeing contractors and consultants
- Supporting capital project reviews and inspections
- Performing generator and equipment inspections
This position will be filled at either the Engineer or Senior Engineer level, depending on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
Engineer Level
- Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Valid driver's license
- Familiarity with plant electrical systems, including generators, relays, motor controls, and SF6 breakers
- Ability to work in challenging environments (confined spaces, elevated areas, tunnels)
- Proficiency in technical software and report preparation
Senior Engineer Level
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience
- Advanced knowledge of engineering theories and applications
- Proven leadership and project management skills
- Strong communication and technical writing abilities
- In-depth experience with plant electrical systems and troubleshooting
- Ability to lead teams and manage complex technical challenges
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Degrees must meet specific accreditation criteria (ABET or equivalent international standards)
Preferred Certifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, with the ability to obtain reciprocity in Virginia and other states.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to various environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, confined spaces, etc.)
- Fieldwork in rugged terrain and off-road driving may be required
- Travel up to 25%
