Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:


• Supports safe operations, has the "courage to care" and complies with all safety policies

• Proactively identifies opportunities for cost savings and supports cost reduction initiatives

• Supports and participates in problem-solving processes

• Committed to open and honest communication and adherence to company core values

• Supports all departments as an engineering professional to ensure efficient operations

• Authorization for Expenditures (AFE's) for mine projects

• Mine Royalty Calculations

• Mine cost reduction activities

• Mine planning - i.e. panel design, extraction, timing, etc.

• Dust control / air quality

• Mine Ventilation

• Supporting production improvement projects in the mine

• Area budget, including capital spending and forecasting

• Rock mechanics/Roof Control

• Technical support for extraction activities (dry ore and water)

• Engineering assistance on major mine projects


Activities:


• Research and write AFE's for mine projects

• Mine Production Forecasting

• Facilitate mine cost reductions and continuous improvement projects

• Monitors mine ventilation including the coordination of ventilation crew efforts

• Develop and participate as needed in Mine production improvement projects

• Participate in and support capital planning

• Test new products

• Conduct tests on roof stability

• Design roof stability i.e. rock mechanics

• Provide mine tours

• Provide engineering assistance on major mine projects

• Assist Safety Department in MSHA inspections when Safety resources are unavailable

• Provide geology support

• Production and Efficiency Reporting (KPI's)

• Other duties as assigned


Skill, Capability and Educational Requirements:


• B.S Degree in Mine Engineering


• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


• Professional engineering license preferred


This position progresses along the Technical Professional Career Program (technical ladder).
