About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join team in New York City. This role involves the design and coordination of electrical systems for a wide range of building types, including commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use developments. You will work closely with architects, mechanical and plumbing engineers, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality, code-compliant electrical designs from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems for new construction and renovation projects.
- Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and load calculations.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural) to ensure fully integrated MEP designs.
- Perform site visits and field surveys to assess existing conditions and support construction administration.
- Ensure designs comply with NYC Building Code, NEC, NFPA, and other applicable standards.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support contractors during the construction phase.
- Participate in client meetings and present technical solutions clearly and professionally.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, materials, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in MEP consulting or electrical building systems design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with lighting calculation software (e.g., AGi32, ElumTools) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NYC Electrical Code, NFPA).
- EIT certification required; PE license or progress toward licensure preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
