Brainhunter is currently seeking " Valve / Actuator Engineer" to work for our valued Client in Tiverton, Ontario. It's a one - year contract opportunity.
Responsibilities:
1. Co-ordination and Prioritization of projects for obsolete valve and actuator replacements, acting as an extension of the Component Engineering group, including:
- Valve application reviews, actuator sizing
- Liaison with Manufacturers/Vendors for specification of replacement options
- Liaison with Supply Chain for review of technical details on replacement Items, review of vendor quotations and acceptance of vendor documentation
- Walkdown of installed equipment for installation and spatial requirements
- Liaison with Valve Component Engineering for choice of valve/actuator replacements, verification of sizing
- Liaison with Component Design Engineering, provide input and review engineering changes, drawing review and acceptance, replacement instructions, commissioning requirements, change papers
- Liaison with Plant Maintenance for planning and installation of replacement components
- Provide engineering support for field installation, diagnostics testing, and final commissioning and provide updates to Component Engineers as appropriate
2. Update of Valve Packing Training Material and Training Delivery, including:
- Review and update (if required) of Valve Packing Specification and Requirements
- Review and update of Valve Packing Training material, including review by qualified Engineering and Maintenance personnel
- Delivery of updated Valve Packing Training material to at least one class of Engineering and Maintenance personnel
3. Implementation of new SealPro software package for Valve Packing, including:
- Liaison with Information Technology for testing and transfer of existing data from PAGASIS
- Training and turnover of SealPro software with Valve Engineering and Maintenance personnel
4. Implementation of new Kalsi Engineering KVAP calculation software, including:
- Liaison with Information Technology for testing and transfer of existing data from ACE
- Training and turnover of Kalsi KVAP software with Valve Engineering and Maintenance personnel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a focus on valve and actuator design.
- Experience in the nuclear industry strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in technical liaison across engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and vendors.
- Familiarity with valve sizing tools, diagnostic testing, and commissioning processes.
- Strong understanding of valve packing systems and training development.
- Experience implementing engineering software tools (SealPro, KVAP or similar) is an asset.
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario is an asset but not mandatory.
