Position Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer in our Advanced Systems group, you will be responsible for the design, integration, testing, and optimization of complex mechanical assemblies. This role demands a high degree of technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, software, and systems engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies, focusing on reliability, manufacturability, and performance under dynamic conditions.
- Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses to ensure design integrity.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support prototyping, integration, and testing of mechanical systems in lab and field environments.
- Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and documentation using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or similar).
- Select materials and manufacturing processes appropriate for aerospace-grade applications.
- Identify and implement design improvements based on testing, feedback, and evolving requirements.
- Interface with vendors and suppliers to support component selection, fabrication, and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design for aerospace, defense, robotics, or related industries.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent) and simulation tools (FEA, thermal, vibration).
- Strong understanding of materials science, machining, and mechanical tolerancing.
- Hands-on experience with prototype builds and mechanical testing.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with stabilized platforms, gimbaled systems, or opto-mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD environmental testing and qualification processes.
- Knowledge of systems engineering practices and configuration management.
