Job Summary:
As a key member of the Product Development team, you will work directly with optical design engineers, as well as the MEMS, and electrical engineering teams. This position will provide mechanical hardware analysis, design and development for LiDAR products.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Mechanical and Opto-mechanical design of LiDAR products and MEMS based scanner packaging, from requirements and architecture definition, through concept development and design, to manufacturing of high-volume products, while ensuring new products meet performance, quality, reliability, manufacturability, and COGS goals.
- Hands-on involvement in prototype build activities, testing, and analysis.
- Test fixture design and development for proof-of-concept activities as well as product reliability testing.
- Generation and review of technical documentation (specifications, drawings, assembly instructions, test plans).
- Reporting and presentation of data in progress and design reviews.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient using SolidWorks.
- Experience with common manufacturing & design processes such as: sheet metal, plastic injection molding, and machining.
- Experience with tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of basic statistical methods.
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills, ability to understand complex systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- 1-3 years relevant experience in new product design and development.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with micro-assembly automation and high-volume product design.
- Mechanical analysis experience.
- Hands on experience with optical and opto-mechanical hardware and test equipment.
- Experience with laser-based systems.
