High-Speed Machines Power Electronics Advanced Motor Drives
I'm working with an industry leader in the design and development of high-speed permanent magnet machines, magnetic bearings, and power electronics systems that enable breakthrough innovations in energy, aerospace, automotive, and medical industries.
We're looking for a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team and help develop next-generation power converter systems that drive our high-speed motors, turbo-machinery, and flywheel energy storage systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, and validation of power converters, inverter systems, and motor drives ranging from a few kilowatts to megawatts
- Architect AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC converters using topologies optimized for high-speed rotating machinery
- Select power devices (e.g., SiC, GaN, or IGBTs), design gate drive circuits, and perform detailed switching and thermal analysis
- Develop and validate control algorithms (e.g., vector control, sensorless commutation, overcurrent protection)
- Work closely with firmware, electrical, mechanical, and magnetics teams to ensure successful system integration
- Support PCB layout guidance, EMI mitigation strategies, and thermal management design
- Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance throughout the development cycle
- Support testing and validation using high-voltage lab equipment and data acquisition systems
You Might Be a Fit If You Have
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in power electronics design, especially for motor drives, inverters, or power conversion systems
- Experience designing for high-frequency, high-speed, or high-efficiency applications
- Knowledge of control loop design, filtering, switching behavior, and modulation techniques
- Familiarity with digital signal processors (DSPs), FPGA-based control, or embedded firmware is a plus
- Strong understanding of magnetics, thermal constraints, and system-level trade-offs
Nice to Have
- Background in magnetic bearing systems, flywheel energy storage, or high-speed motor/generator applications
- Experience in aerospace, EV, HVAC, turbomachinery, or medical device industries
- Proficiency with tools such as PSpice, LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, or Altium
- Understanding of compliance standards such as UL, CE, or MIL-STD
Why Join
- Work on cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Join a world-class team building systems for advanced energy, medical, and industrial applications
- Enjoy a hands-on, end-to-end engineering experience from R&D to production
