The Opportunity:
This isn't a "behind-the-desk" design role. You'll collaborate with project managers, sales, quality teams, procurement, and production to bring designs to life-ensuring they're not just innovative but also practical, manufacturable, and aligned with real-world customer needs.
What You'll Do:
- Lead mechanical design efforts from concept to completion
- Partner with internal teams and clients to define project goals
- Design and refine components using SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, and Vault
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers
- Ensure designs meet UL compliance standards and customer specifications
- Deliver detailed documentation, BOMs, and design packages
- Troubleshoot issues during production and drive continuous improvement
- Maintain design control and manage changes effectively
- Occasionally travel to support project implementation or client visits
What You Bring:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical/electromechanical system design
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, and MS Office Suite
- Working knowledge of UL codes (UL 891, UL 1558, UL 1008, etc.) is a plus
- Strong understanding of electrical enclosures and power distribution equipment
- A collaborative, problem-solving mindset with excellent communication skills
